Howdy there. (Ha. Accidently posted this to my journal before. Go me?)

We died... again.

Feel free to post song lyrics. Any pairings welcome.

Shamelessly plugging a new community: jarodxkyle. It's a Pretender based community for the pairing jarod/kyle. Any one is welcome to join.

And now. Song lyrics!

Portions for Foxes, Rilo Kiley. For... well, my first thought was Daniel/Kyle, but could also work for Sirius/Remus, not that I read through them again.Collapse )

This entry may be pushing it slightly. But it does involve music. and slashy couples. So I'm taking my chances.

I need songs that mention bridges.

Bridges that cannot be burned. Bridges that have been burned. Bridges that you don't want to burn.

It's for a soundtrack I'm spinning together for a certain story/couple.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Also! Welcome to our new members!

If anyone's interested, a new icon contest community has been created - the weekly challenges will be song lyrics, and the content will have to be slash/yaoi related. Check out yaoimusicontest for the details.

Song: Walking in London
Artist: Concrete Blonde
Pairing: Kyle/Daniel
Comments: This is for my esteemed co-moderator, thesilentpoet, who is an amazing writer. This is a song that I connect to two characters that she's been working on for a few months now, that I have shamelessly pushed her into writing more of. (And which I keep making icons for.) Thank you for writing what you write.

hello lovelys... im new here :)
*waves*
While I was reading a excellent autumn R/S fic, I was listening to one of my fav songs.
Best I Ever Had by Gary Allan.
And it hit me, THAT is a wonderfully written song for Remus! Because of Sirius... "leaving," I'll put up the lyrics, everyone see if it makes you think the same! :)

I've been currently on Hamlet and Goo Goo Doll kicks. I apologize for both. All songs are Hamlet/Horatio. All songs listed are by Goo Goo Dolls.

"While I cannot nowhere near picture Horatio ever calling Hamlet "baby", this song fairly works during the last scene, when Hamlet dies in Horatio's arms.

Kinda a good one to sum up certain trends throughout the play, no?
Acoustic #3Collapse )

Again something that seems to sum certain trends up in my mind. And again something that would be for during/after the death scene.

Comments:  I'm usually the odd duck out here, as I'm more of a anime/manga fan than a Harry Potter fan.  But thesilentpoet got me hooked on the shoebox_project, and now I'm looking at music and hearing Remus/Sirius stuff.

I think this community is such a good idea that I going to try to convince other people to join! (Excuse the new member's enthusiasm.)

I am recommending "The Killing Moon" by Echo and The Bunnymen. It is from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. I think it is perfect for Remus/Sirius.

Man, I'm so sorry I've been gone for so long.  I've been without a keyboard on my laptop for nearly a year, and it's sucked.  But we're back, and listening to even more music!

Artist:  Queen
Title:  Too Much Love Will Kill You
Comments:  If you listen to this, Freddie Mercury's voice is amazing.  It soars through this song.  This is off of the Made In Heaven album, which was recorded in the few months before Freddie Mercury's death, and it's difficult to believe that he died not long after recording this song.  His voice is strong and resonant throughout the piece, and it makes me cry every time that I listen to it.  Goosebumps, kind of thing.

This song makes me think of every couple that I've ever heard of, or alluded to, or dreamed about, and it makes me think of love, gut-churning, tongue-twisting, heart-beating-out-of-your-chest emotion.

Too much...Collapse )

I am searching for fics, art and icons inspired by the lyrics of Leonard Cohen. Has anyone seen anything? Trying to get some more stuff to link from my potterxcohen community. LC is especially good for R/S stuff. If you've read anything, I'll trade my enternal devotion for a link.

Just switch the gender of the subject, and this song is R/S all over. Or else it could be young Sirius-in-denial, enjoying his time with Remus and wondering why he hasn't got a girl.

I don't know if this post is permissible, but if not, please ignore/delete as you see fit. I've started a new songfic community for Harry Potter fanfic, icons and challenges inspired by Leonard Cohen songs and poems. I mean it to mostly be a Remus/Sirius community, since they are my favourite flavour, but really anything Potter/Cohen related is welcome.

All right, guys. I don't know how active this list is getting yet, but I need help. I'm attempting to write some slow, sweet lemon here, and I need playlist suggestions. What's gonna get my boys in the mood, huh?

I'm currently jonesing to the haunting lyrics of S. McLachlan's 'I Love You', from her 'Surfacing' Album (Track 2).

A REMUS/SIRIUS PLAYLIST!

Enjoy. I sort of broke the rules because I didn't include the FULL lyric just a snippet. *bats eyes* But I linked the song instead, on a You Send It file. I hope that is okay.

This song makes me think of Remus. It seems like it was written in his voice, almost...Neil Tennant is very Remus-y. (in my opinion) I have another Pet Shop Boys song that I'd like to post here, if you like this one I will post it here later. Please comment if you take this song. I'm uploading it here on You Send It.

Lyrics will be under the cut.

Song Title: Redemption Day
Artist/Composer: Sheryl Crow/Sheryl Crow
Comments: I recently picked up a used copy of Sheryl Crow's self titled album (I used to borrow my roomate's whenever she wasn't looking, but then she got married and moved away, sigh.) And I've rediscovered this song, with lots of good imagery towards the end, and even better pull in the beginning.

I am hoping you will all find these songs as moving as I do. I will post not only the lyrics but a link to download the song. The link will only work for seven days though.

The first song is The Waterboys "The Whole of the Moon". I want to be able to write a fic for this but I've just started writing R/S and I don't think I can do this yet so maybe someone else can. For me, this is a grieving Remus who remembers Sirius as a free spirit who was always trying to do something that Remus was afraid to do. But then there are lines that remind me of OoTP such as "you stayed in your room"...when he had to stay at Number 12. And at the end, the singer says "oh oh oh" and it sounds like a wolf howling. Just read the lyrics....and I dare you not to cry.

The link and the lyricsCollapse )

This next song is a fantastic R/S song by George Michael. "Cowboys and Angels" seems, to me, to be a song from Sirius's POV. He's longing for Remus but unable to tell him. He feels as if he isn't good enough...unworthy...maybe because of The Prank. I do feel this is a post prank sort of song. God, I read too much into these huh. The lyric that gets me is..."that scar on your face, that beautiful face of yours..."

GUTTED!! There are so many other things about this song that I love but that is the best.

Title: "Chris, Look What You've Missed"
From: Naked Boys Singing
Ship and fandom: R/S, Harry Potter
Hear it: Here (I do not vouch for this site or its contents. As always, download at your own risk.)

What a Moony song this is. "Chris, Look What You've Missed" from the (all gay, all male, all nude, surprisingly sensitive) play Naked Boys Singing is a layered, subtle letter from a man whose lover is no longer with him. Survivor's guilt is a theme in the song; at times, he is both regretful to betray his departed love, but resentful of this feeling. Remus knows that logically, he has no reason to be loyal to Sirius. Blame is also present: "look what *you* missed," and the first stanza laments the waste. As much as Remus misses him and feels guilty for moving on without him, Remus is angry that Sirius got himself arrested. Killing his friends is beside the point; Sirius is responsible for the lonely life that Remus is forced to live.

I see this song as Moony in his 20s because it isn't just about lost love, but also moving ahead while the other person is standing still. Sirius left at an important age, just when Remus was leaving late adolesence and coming of age as an independant adult.

Artist: Sheryl Crow
Album: The Globe Sessions (1998)
Comments: Sheryl Crow has always inspired me, and I think I have maybe five fics written to her music. But this song? Two of those fics are for this song, and one is even titled after it. I find it very inspiring, and hope you will, too. I'm passing it on.
